Who
we are:
The
Strathcona Triathlon Club is
a Triathlon British Columbia
(Tri-BC) affiliated
multisport club based in
Campbell River, BC. It was
formed in 1996 with an
initial membership of 8-9
enthusiastic people with a
common interest in the sport
of Triathlon. The club was
run on a very informal basis
with the emphasis on fun.
We are still
going strong and continue to
emphasize fun! The sport of
Triathlon has been around
for many years, but with its
inclusion in the 2000 Summer
Olympic Games, interest in
the sport (and lifestyle)
has grown tremendously.
Likewise, our club has
grown. As of the 2010 season we
have 85 adult members and
about 20 youth members - a
huge growth factor
since the club
started in 1996. In 2007,
Richard and Laurel Cronk
formed a youth division
and called
it The Rapids. This
enthusiastic group is open
to kids from grade 6 to 12
and has over 20 kids
enrolled. If you have kids,
or even if you don't, check
out their webpage:
www.rapids.wikispaces.com
It's pretty cool. Laurel and
Richard spend an awful lot
of time volunteering and
supporting these kids. Any
help from other
members is most welcome.
The Rapids offer scheduled
workouts in swim, bike
and run as well as
training opportunities with
the adult club.
